SWA Foundation

The Sealant and Waterproofing Association, through consultation with the membership, has created the SWA Foundation, a body to oversee all fundraising activities of SWA. The mandate of the Foundation is to develop and enhance a greater awareness of the sealant and waterproofing sector within the construction industry in general as well as the architectural/engineering and specifier community. It will build recognition within the educational sector via the SWA Scholarship Program which will allow the association to reach out to those students currently enrolled in a construction related program and hopefully direct some of their interest to the sealant and waterproofing portion of building construction.

  • It is the intention to offer the first scholarships for September 2017 enrollment and award two scholarships of $2,500 each to two students enrolled in colleges in construction and building science related programs.
  • The goal is to raise a minimum of $20,000 in 2017 in order to fund these scholarships, be comfortable making commitments that will renew annually, and be able to grow the program for years to come.
  • Founding Members of the SWA Scholarship Program receive recognition via email blasts, recognition at all SWA events including seminars, the golf tournament, Ski Day and the Fishing Derby. These Founding Members may also use the SWA Foundation logo on their company website and meet with the scholarship recipients at SWA events. Most importantly, contributing to the Foundation demonstrates that your organization is a strong supporter of education within our industry to your employees, current clients and future clients.

2021

Mark Westacott - Carpenter Program

2020

2018

Gregory Maynard - Carpentry & Renovation Techniques

Cameron Gardiner - Construction Engineering Technician

  • Martin Datu is a second-year student in the Building Renovation Technology Program at George Brown College. Since beginning the program, Martin has developed a passion for the trades, particularly in carpentry, where his goal is to open his own woodworking shop in the future. This year, Martin has faced significant personal challenges with his health, which has made it difficult some days to attend class. Nevertheless, he has persevered through these obstacles. Not only has he completed his second year of this program, but he is also working part-time for a crew that frames custom homes. Receiving the Sealant and Waterproofing Association Leadership Award has made an indelible impact on Martin, not only encouraging him to pursue his education, but helping to offset personal living costs, including medication, and supporting his mother. Thank you for your generosity!

Student Thank You's

  • Trevor Myles: I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Sealant & Waterproofing Association for the kind bursary donation. Being in school with bills to pay isn't the easiest at times and this bursary will help me get back on track. I'm a 2nd year carpenter apprentice. I have been in the trade since 2017. I work out of Ajax and I look forward to attending Fleming for my third and final block of school next year. Once again thank you.
  • Gregory Maynard: Thank you for the Sealant & Waterproofing Association Bursary. This bursary will help assist with me finishing my studies and buying material and tools.
  • Cameron Gardiner: I would like to say thank you for the bursary which will help me to achieve academic success. It will go toward my math program this summer and my textbooks for the fall.
